Celebration of Laura's 173 Birthday
The Frying Pan Park Conference Center provided a perfect setting for our Down Home" dinner and special evening to celebrate the 173rd anniversary of Laura Ratcliffe's birth. The old barn, converted to a very modern but still warm welcoming space, saw numerous partygoers gathering for the event under
wooden beams decorated with the rich blues and iridescent greens of peacock feathers lending a touch of Victorian elegance.

First Annual Merrybrook Preservation Gala
This event brought together almost 200 people from diverse areas of Virginia and Maryland. They are active in their many communities and very interested in helping local causes and merchants.
The event marked the 172nd birthday of Laura Ratcliffe and honored friends who contributed $125 or more for preserving her memory and her home.

Anniversary Meeting Nov 27, 2008
All were invited to the one year anniversary meeting of the Friends of Laura Ratliffe on Tuesday November 27th, 2008. The meeting took place at Merrybrook at 7:30pm.

Plaque Dedication November 4th, 2008
All were invited invited to the dedication of a plaque sponsored by the Laura Ratcliffe chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy on November 4th 2007. The plaque is located at Laura Ratcliffe's burial place in front of the Worldgate Marriot Hotel.
